TREASURER

Sergeant Dan Gomez began his law enforcement career in 2000. He came to the Pomona Police Department in 2005. He has previously worked Patrol, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF), Los Angeles Interagency Metropolitan Police Apprehension Crime Task Force (LA IMPACT), Vice, and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) / Sexual Exploitation Traffic Team (SETT). He currently serves as an assistant Rangemaster. Dan is currently assigned to Patrol. He was elected to the PPOA Board in December 2019. Dan Gomez was appointed Treasurer in 2022.

Blair Hornby

DIRECTOR

Sergeant Blair Hornby began his law enforcement career at the Pomona Police Department in 2012. He has worked Patrol, Safe Streets Task Force, Internal Affairs, and SWAT. Blair is currently assigned as the sergeant overseeing the Daniel Fraembs Training Center. He was elected to the PPOA in December 2024.

Joe Hernandez

Director

Joe Hernandez is a dedicated law enforcement professional with 24 years of service at the Pomona Police Department. Throughout his career, he has been privileged to serve in a wide range of specialized and leadership roles, including 19 years as a SWAT operator, 12 years as a K-9 handler, and 5 years assigned to the Major Crimes Task Force (Gang Unit) as both an officer and supervisor. Joe has also spent 15 years mentoring future leaders as a Police Explorer Advisor, 5 years as a Traffic Investigator, and 7 years as a Field Supervisor while serving as a Police Corporal. He is currently serving as a newly promoted Detective.

Joe is deeply committed to ethical leadership, officer wellness, and community engagement. He looks forward to serving the Pomona Police Officers Association members with empathy, advocating for their needs, and continuing to build strong, positive relationships within the Pomona community.

Josh Bukala

Director

Josh Bukala has been a Pomona Police Officer since 2017. Prior to joining the
Pomona Police Department, he served in the United States Army, completing two
overseas combat deployments, where he developed a strong foundation in
leadership, discipline, and service.
Officer Bukala is currently assigned as a K9 handler and also serves as a Field
Training Officer and Assistant Rangemaster. In these roles, he is actively involved
in mentoring new officers, maintaining high training standards, and supporting the
operational readiness of the department.
Officer Bukala is dedicated to the continued improvement of the department and
the well-being of its members. He values professionalism, accountability, and
service to the community.
